Breen, Mary Ethel … The family of Mary E. Breen, wife of the late John E. Breen, announces her passing at the Saint John and St. Stephen Nursing Home on August 27, 2009. Born on September 8, 1915, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Ethel (Walton) Shannon and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mary is survived by her children: Margaret E. (late Douglas) Titus, Charles W. (Audrey), Geraldine Goakery, Ann M. (John) Burns, Gary J. (Michelle), Ronald T., Terrance D., Walter J., Judith L. (Peter) Donovan, Rose Mary (Donald) Landry, Malcolm R. (Helen), and Mark S.; thirty-six grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren; special niece, Connie (Terrance) Knudson; special friend, Joannie Hawkins; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by children, Elaine Marie, Patrick and John E.; grandchildren, Elaine (Goakery) Antoinelli, John Breen, Deborah (Titus) Farren; sister, Helen (Albenie) Burke; great-grandchildren, Dreden Landry and Miranda Joy Fowler. During mom’s time as a resident of the nursing home she became known to the staff and other family members of the residents as the “Official Greeter” as most often she was at the entrance to greet visitors with a wave and a big smile. Mom loved music and loved to dance and whenever there were musicians giving a concert at the residence she would sing along and knew the words to every Irish song played at the St. Patrick’s concerts. Many thanks to the staff of St. John and St. Stephen Home for all the special care you gave to our mother. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Holy Trinity Church, Rockland Road on Saturday, August 29, 2009 at 10:00 am. A reception will follow at Brenan’s Funeral Home. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery at a later time. Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Children’s Wish Foundation or Cystic Fibrosis. www.brenansfh.com
