Obituary of William Rance Carlin

Carlin, William Rance: The death of William R. Carlin occurred at Loch Lomond Villa on Saturday, January 31, 2009. Born in Saint John (1915) he was the son of William L. and Mary (Brookins) Carlin. Bill served in the army in WWll as an Assistant Fire Marshal. The majority of his working career was spent in the general insurance business, including operating his own independent insurance adjusting firm. He retired in 1980 following eight years employment with the Department of Justice. Besides his parents Bill was predeceased by his first wife Marion G. (Cowan) and his second wife Marjorie A. (Cochrane). He is survived by his sister Constance (Ernest) Murray of Ottawa, son, David R. (Heather) Kingston, N.B., daughter Wendy (Mrs. Robert Lourie) Grand Bay-Westfield, N.B. and by his grandchildren, David R. Carlin Jr. (Darren Roberts) Vancouver, B.C., Stephanie (Constable Michael Taylor) Galiano Island, B.C., Leanne (Mrs. Greg Cromwell) Halifax, N.S., Constable Heather Lourie (Sean Chisholm) Halifax, N.S., five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Cremation has already taken place. It was at Bill’s request that no funeral or memorial service be held. A family committal will take place at Hatfields Point in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Church of the Resurrection Building Fund or a charity of the donor’s choice.
