Obituary of John Thomas Sullivan

The death of John Thomas Sullivan, of Parks Street, Saint John, NB, occurred on July 7, 2009, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on April 4, 1944, in Saint John, he was a son of the late Mark Gerard and Mary Catherine (Duggan) Sullivan. Throughout his life John was involved with many organizations and unions including: International Union of Elevator Constructors, ADANAC Association and CASARA Civil Air Search and Rescue Association. He was formerly employed as an Elevator Engineer with Dover, Thyssen, Montgomery Cone and Otis elevators; after his retirement as a hobby he enjoyed being associated with Avis Rent-a-Car. John also was a long time member of Holy Trinity Parish. John is survived by his son, Christopher J. Osborne and his mother Gertrude of Saint John, NB; and four sisters, Ann (John) Vautour of Gatineau, QC; Kathryn Clark of Riverview, NB; Doreen Mulholland and Margaret Record both of Saint John, NB; and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he is predeceased by his brother, Harold and his brother-in-law Donald Record. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, (506) 634-7424, with visiting on Thursday, from 7-9 p.m. and Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Holy Trinity Parish, Rockland Road, on Saturday, July 11, 2009; at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
