Obituary of Thomas E. McGaghey

McGaghey, Thomas E. … The death of Tom McGaghey, formerly of Kings Square South, Saint John, passed away peacefully at his residence, Ridgewood Veteran’s Wing, on Sunday, October 26, 2008. He was born in Saint John on March 24, 1922 to the late Perley and Eliza (Pottle) McGaghey. Tom served overseas in World War II, with the 1st Canadian Radar Location Unit. He was formerly employed by Hayward & Warwick’s and McAvity’s until his retirement. Tom was an antique restorer with Hymen Ketesky and operated Tom McGaghey Antique Restorery and Conservatory on Canterbury Street. He is survived by his loving wife Eileen (Jessup) McGaghey; one son: Raymond of Toronto, ON; three daughters: Sharon McGaghey of Western Canada, Elizabeth Govan and Iris Esson (Paul) both of Saint John, NB; three brothers: Freeman of Victoria, BC, Douglas of Western Canada and Reginald of Toronto, ON; two sisters: Dorothy Delong (Wendell) and Elsie McGaghey both of Saint John, NB and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A Royal Canadian Legion Tribute Service will be held on Wednesday at 7pm. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Thursday, October 30th, 2008 at 1:00 pm. Interment will take place in Greenwood Cemetery’s Field of Honour. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. www.brenansfh.com
