Obituary of Phyllis E. Daniels

After a fulfilling life of over 105 years, the passing of Phyllis Daniels, occurred at the Loch Lomond Villa on Monday, August 24, 2009. She was born on September 1, 1903 at Little River, NS to the late Russell and Ada (Frost) Denton. During her lifetime, she was an active member of St. David’s United Church in Rothesay, a member of the IODE, YWCA, Riverside Country Club and past ladies president of the Westfield Golf and Country Club. Phyllis was an avid bridge player. She is survived by her children, Jean Sutherland of Truro, NS and Peter Daniels (Carol) of Rothesay, NB; five grandchildren: Michael Daniels, Nancy Barry, Peter Sutherland, Robert Sutherland and Jennifer MacDougall; nine great grandchildren and one great great grandson. Besides her parents, Phyllis was predeceased by her husband Frank Daniels; daughter, Patricia Roberts; son in law, Donald Sutherland; brother, Curtis Denton and two sisters: Nellie Rogers and Minnie Sterr. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Thursday from 12-1 pm, followed by the funeral service in Brenan’s Chapel. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to St. David’s United Church (Rothesay), would be appreciated by the family (flowers by family only).
