Obituary of William Gerard Dacey

Surrounded by his family, the passing of Billy Dacey, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Monday, May 4, 2009. He was born in Saint John on May 15, 1940 to the late Gerard and Ita (Kirk) Dacey. Billy worked as a Boilermaker and Sheet Metal Worker at Saint John Ship Building for many years. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Gail (Baird) Dacey; son, Jeff Dacey (Marcella) of Calgary, AB; daughter, Debra Dacey-Ough (Thomas) of Edmonton, AB; four grandchildren; Ryan, Courtney, Brooke and Devon Dacey-Ough; two sisters: Gerita Sullivan (Howard) of Kingston Peninsula, NB and Ann Reid-Guitard (Jude) of Belleisle Bay, NB; his twin brother, John (Fran) of Burlington, ON; good friend, Greg McAuliffe and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Billy is also survived by his special friend, his dog Mindy. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at 2:30 pm. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish remembrances of Billy may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
