Obituary of Marjorie Iona McFarlane-Goguen

The family of Marjorie Iona McFarlane-Goguen of Saint John, wife of Leo J. Goguen, sadly announces her passing on Saturday, April 4, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Snider Mountain, Kings Co., she was a daughter of the late Thomas Melbourne and Clara Viola (Gray) Cameron. Marjorie was a member of All Saints Anglican Church, Saint John East, a life member of the ACW, a member of St. Joseph’s Hospital Retirees Club, Kennebecasis Legion Branch 58, Past Member of Rebekah Lodge 1007 and served as Chaplain for many years, member of Saint John Regional Hospital Auxiliary, Beaus and Bells Square Dance Club and Volunteered at Loch Lomond Villa. She loved to dance and play cards with the Senior Clubs. She leaves behind her husband, Leo; one daughter, Sylvia Belyea of Saint John; three sons, David (Shirley Cochran) of the Kingston Peninsula, Douglas (Heather) of Saint John and Larry (Mary) of Clifton Royal; two daughters-in-law, Irene and Madeline; a foster sister, Sheron Mason; seven grandchildren, Robert, Andrea, Christopher, Colin, Leanne, Davina and Shawn; six great-grandchildren, Alisha, Jennifer, McKenzie, Connor, Emma and Ellis; several nieces and nephews and many cherished friends. Marjorie was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been predeceased by her sisters, Phyllis Toner and Alfreida McRae; also predeceased by her first husband, R. Alden McFarlane; a son, Paul Douglas McFarlane and a son-in-law, Malcolm Belyea. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Monday from 7-9 pm and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Service will be held from All Saints Church, Park Ave. on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at 2 pm. Interment will be in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick.
