Obituary of Marjorie Lucille Crawford

Marjorie Lucille Crawford, formerly of 2 Second Street, Saint John, wife of the late Gordon Albert Crawford, passed away on Monday, January 26, 2009 at the Carleton Kirk Lodge. Born at Saint John on June 17, 1918, she was a daughter of the late George and Lucille (Diblee) Alston. Marjorie was a 1940 graduate of the Saint John General Hospital School of Nursing, and practiced at the General Hospital until 1962. She was a member of St. Luke’s Anglican Church, as well as the Daughters of the Nile Nereides Temple, being a past queen. Marjorie was also a life member of the Saint John General Hospital Nurses Alumni. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Marjorie is survived by two sons, William (Bill) Crawford (Ann) of Saint John, and James A. Crawford (Brenda) of Quispamsis; a daughter, Mary Narrowmore (Alan) of Saint John; grandchildren Nancy Crawford, Gordon Crawford (Kim), Sandi Prosser, Jonathan Brown, and Tanya Clark; three great grandchildren, Tania and Damian Sears, and Brandon Clark; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and to her parents, Marjorie was predeceased by brothers Harold, George, and James Alston; and by sisters Kathleen Alston and Mary Blizzard. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 1:00 PM from Brenan’s Chapel. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery.
