Obituary of Muriel Beatrice Conley

The passing of Muriel Conley, wife of the late Austin Conley, occurred at the St. John and St. Stephen Nursing Home on Tuesday, January 26, 2010. She was born on October 6, 1912 at Newcastle to the late Walter and Lybia (Miller) Jardine. Muriel attended Mount Allison Womens College in Sackville and received her teaching degree. She taught Home Economics on Deer Island, where she meet her husband Austin. Moving to Saint John she worked at the General Hospital as a Dietitian until her retirement in 1981. She was a member of Portland United Church, United Church Women and past president of the Saint John Regional Hospital Auxiliary. Muriel is survived by her daughter Cathleen Ann Conley of Saint John; brother, George Jardine (Bernice) of Bathurst; sister, Edith McClintock of Ormstown, QC; granddaughter, Alicia Conley (Fiancée Nickel Joseph) and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, Muriel was predeceased by four brothers, Andrew, Walter, Rev. Cecil and John Jardine and one sister, Kathleen. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel, on Friday, January 29, 2010 at 3 PM. Interment will take place in Kirk Hill Cemetery at a later date.
