Obituary of Henry David Verner

Henry David (Harry) Verner of Saint John passed away on Monday, October 26, 2009 at his residence. Born at Saint John on October 4, 1934, he was a son of the late Ernest and Mertiece Verner. Harry worked as a school bus driver for School District 8, retiring in 1989. He was a former member of the Sportsman’s Club and the Buffalo Club, and enjoyed playing darts and the guitar. Harry is survived by two sons, Daniel Verner (Jennifer) of Toronto and Hank Verner (Kim) of Brandon, MB; two daughters, Kathy Ogaki (Graham) of Toronto and Dawn Marie Lingley of Saint John; grandchildren Terry Ogaki, Wayne Grimbleby, Randy, Jordan, and Dakota Verner, Christopher and Cassie Lingley, and Declen, Teagan, and Jessica Verner; two great grandchildren, Randy Sears and Christopher Verner; brothers Joe, John, and David Verner; sisters Audrey Hamilton (Dave), Gina Porter, Edna Sharkey (Fred) and Mertiece Daley (John); several nieces and nephews; and his special feline friend, Buddy. In addition to his parents, Harry was predeceased by a son, Ernest Joseph Verner; brothers, Tommy, Freddie, Herman, Benny, George, and Mickey; and by sisters Annie Brown, Nene Fiddle, and Jennie Verner. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Thursday from 7-9 PM and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM from Brenan’s Chapel. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
