Obituary of Melvin Ross LaFolley

Melvin Ross LaFolley of Saint John, spouse of Martina Marie (Riley) (McCullum), passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 20, 2011 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, following a battle with cancer. Born at Grand Manan on January 15, 1938, he was a son of the late Herbert Clifton and Georgina (Oliver) LaFolley. Mel was formerly employed at the St. John and St. Stephen Nursing Home. He enjoyed playing pool with his friends, usually Saturday afternoons. In addition to Martina, Mel is survived by his children, Charmaine LaFolley, Cherylann Guthrie, Dana LaFolley, and Michelle Goguen (Andrew Spencer), all of Saint John; grandchildren Bernie, Rhonda, Bridgette, K.W., Curtis, Kyle, Jean-Luc, and Andrew; and eight great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him, especially his long-time trusted friends Paul Wilkins and Danny Large, and many others. Mel was predeceased by a brother, Bobby LaFolley. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. The funeral service will be held from Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday at 8:00 PM. For those who wish, remembrances to any charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
