Obituary of Lois Miriam Forrest

The death of Lois Forrest occurred on Monday, February 13, 2012 at the Saint John Regional Hospital after a brief illness. She was born on April 11, 1917 in Olinville, Queens County, NB to the late David and Amelia (Belyea) Elder. Lois worked for many years as a school teacher. She was a 70 year member of Portland United Church, and belonged to Saint John Art Club and the Retired Teachers Association. Besides her family, her greatest passions were strawberries, scrabble and art classes with Robert Percival. She is survived by her son, Dean (Maude) of St. Margaret’s Bay, NS; daughters: Ellen Flemming (Philip) of Public Landing, Lynne Forrest (Jim) of Conn, ON, and Glenna Forrest (Robin) of Saint John; four grandchildren: Richie (Cindy), Susan (Harvey), Jim, Nancy (Val), and Stephen and six great-grandchildren: Jessica, Holly, Adam, Evan, Riley, and Max. Lois was predeceased by her parents; husband of over 60 years, Richard Forrest; brother, Carman and sister, Elsie Elder. A special thank you to Marie, Denise and Betty for their excellent care and compassion over the years. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). Although there is no visitation, a celebration of Lois' life will be held from Portland United Church on Friday, February 17, 2012 at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens.
