Obituary of Thomas Arthur Roper

It is with sadness, we announce, the unexpected and peaceful passing of Tom Roper occurred at the St. John and St. Stephen Nursing Home on Friday, September 16, 2011. He was born on February 11, 1934 in Saint John to the late Thomas H. and Amanda (Cheverie) Roper. Tom worked for many years at CN Railway as a clerk. He is survived by his brother, Joseph Roper (Auline) of Grand Bay-Westfield; sister, Margaret Lythgoe (George Thibodeau) of Saint John; sister-in-law, Ida Roper and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Tom was predeceased by his brother, Louis Roper. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). There will be no formal visitation. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at 2 PM. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Children’s Wish Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Special thanks to the Staff of St. John and St. Stephen Nursing Home (especially Christine O’Neill and Jennie Burley) for the exceptional care of Tom during his stay.
