Obituary of Phyllis Madeline Barber

Phyllis Madeline Barber of Saint John passed away on Friday, May 06, 2011 at the Saint John Regional Hospital in her 90th year. Born at Saint John on May 15, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Vincent and Greta (Long) Morrow. Phyllis was formerly employed at CHSJ Radio, and then worked for the Federal Department of Public Works, retiring in 1981. She loved to spend the summers at the family cottage in Buckley’s Cove. Phyllis is survived by her children, Bruce Barber (Joanne Tynski) of Saint John, Margaret Barber-Russell (Scott) of Quispamsis, and Lynne Simonds (Wayne) of Public Landing; granddaughters Melanie, Kate, Celeigh, Sarah, and Allison; chosen grandchildren Nicole, David, and Jennifer; a great grandson, Kai; a brother, Royden Morrow of Saint John; a sister-in-law, Shirley Morrow of Burlington, Ontario; and several nieces and nephews. Phyllis was predeceased by a brother, James Morrow, and a sister, Betty Dolan-Voss. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff of Kings Way Care Centre for the love, laughter, and the quality of care for the past three years in looking after their Philly. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Monday, May 9, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A private family graveside service will be held at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery.
