Obituary of Nellie Jane Hickey

The death of Nellie Jane Hickey of Saint John, NB formerly of Turnbull Nursing Home, wife of the late Benedict Andrew Hickey, occurred on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on April 17, 1925 she was a daughter of the late Nathanial and Hazel (Foster) Palmer. Nellie was a life long member of St. John the Baptist Church and also a member of the church choir. She loved crocheting, swimming, fishing and trailering at Harding’s Point. Nellie will always be remembered as a very loving woman with a great sense of humour. She worked for City Road Laundry and St. Joseph’s Hospital Laundry Department. She is survived by her two sons, Gerald and Gerard; one brother, Peter Palmer; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband; six siblings, Jack, Arthur, Norman, Trevlan, Elva and Ruby. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. John the Baptist Church on Monday, June 27, 2011 at 6:00 pm. Interment to take place on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
