Obituary of James Joseph Richard

Husband of Mary Richard, passed away peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Monday, January 3, 2011 at the age of 72 after years of failing health. He was born on July 19, 1938, in Saint John to the late Alfred and Josephine (Chiasson) Richard. J.J. worked as a welder at Saint John Shipbuilding for over 36 years until his retirement . He leaves in mourning his wife of 48 years, Mary; his son, Kevin (Agnes); daughter, Anne (Kevin Marsden); grandchildren, Melissa, Marc and Michelle; sisters, Betty, Nora (Joseph Kane); Yvonne (Buddy Perry); and brothers, Eldon (Hilda) of Fergus, Ont.; Alfred (Sandra) and Joseph (Gail). J.J. was predeceased by his parents and brothers, Clarence, Alvin, Wilfred and Daniel. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Ann’s Church, 135 Simpson Drive, on Wednesday, January 5, 2011, at 11:00 am. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the Canadian Diabetes Association or Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
