Obituary of Lois Marilyn Whitney
Lois Marilyn Whitney of Saint John passed away peacefully with her children by her side on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Salisbury, New Brunswick on December 14, 1944, she was a daughter of the late Manford and Stella (DeMont) Killam. Lois was employed for more than ten years with the Superstore in Millidgeville, retiring in January of this year. She was a member of Main Street Baptist Church, and was a tireless community volunteer for the Canadian Cancer Society and the Heart and Stroke Foundation, as well as being a member of the Board of Directors of the Community Access Centre in Crescent Valley. In her spare time, Lois enjoyed walking, knitting, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren who were her "sweet peas". Lois is survived by her children, Robert Whitney (Wendy) of Saint John, Rose Fowler (Ross) of Quispamsis, and Aimee Marchesi (Don) of Dover, New Hampshire; eight grandchildren, Benjamin Whitney, Melissa Whitney, Andrew Fowler, Victoria Fowler, Gregory Fowler, William Marchesi, Sophia Marchesi, and Olivia Marchesi; brothers and sisters Judy Keith (Royden) of Sussex, Jeanette Price (Stan) of Havelock, George Killam (Sandra) of Havelock, Lorraine Steeves (Ron) of Sussex, Robert Killam (Irene) of Havelock, Ruby Geldart (Robin)of Elgin, Bonnie Carr (Mervin) of Havelock, Susan Martin (Jeff) of Belfast, Maine, Daniel Killam (Debbie) of Havelock, Debbie Graves (Bill) of Slave Lake, Alberta, Tim Killam (Connie) of Anagance, and Nancy Sprague (Dale) of Corn Hill; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, including Christina Warren of Saint John who was especially close to Lois. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Monday, October 3, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 1:00 PM from Main Street Baptist Church. Interment will take place in Greenhill Cemetery, Havelock on Tuesday at 4:30 PM.
