Obituary of Clarence G. McCarthy

Surrounded by his family, the death of Cam McCarthy, husband of Doreen (Kiervin) McCarthy occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Monday, August 15, 2011. He was born on October 18, 1930 at Saint John to the late Daniel and Mabel (Hogan) McCarthy. He was a graduate of St. Vincent’s Boy’s School. Cam worked for many years with George Mackie and Sons Electrical Contractors and retired from Saint John Shipbuilding in 1996. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local #502, life member of the Kennebecasis Lions Club and former member of the Rothesay Regional Police Commission. Cam was known for his gentle words and quick wit. Cam is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Doreen; sister-in-law, Lynn McCarthy; several special nieces and nephews and many life long friends. Besides his parents, Cam was predeceased by brothers: Father Raymond McCarthy (Scarborough Foreign Missions), Gerald T. McCarthy and Frank McCarthy and sisters: Mary Riley, Eleanor Breen, Margaret Connors, Beatrice (Bea) LeBlanc, and Katherine (Kitty) Doiron. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Rothesay on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at 12:00 Noon. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church Building Fund or the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation, would be appreciated by the family.
