Obituary of Helen R. Jarvis

It is with great sadness the family announce the death of Helen Rowena (Chappelle) Jarvis of Rothesay, N.B. wife of the late David Newton Jarvis, which occurred on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Geary, N.B. on July 6, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Rose (Grasse) Chappelle. Helen had just received her 50 year service pin from the Order of the Eastern Star Lord Beaverbrook Chapter # 33, was Past Matron and served as Grand Chaplain. She is survived by three sons: David L. (Judy) Jarvis of Saint John, Gregory E. (Rita) Jarvis of Ottawa and Perry W. (Dianne) of Rothesay; five grandchildren: David (Kim) Jarvis of Wadena, Sask, Kari (Jason) Richards of Ottawa, Corey Jarvis of Ottawa, Christopher Jarvis of Rothesay, Natalie Jarvis of Fredericton; and four great-grandchildren, Ethan, Hunter, Anna, and Maxwell, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her husband and parents, Helen was the last surviving member of her immediate family and was predeceased by her brothers and sister, Harold Chappelle, Janet Gordon, Byron Chappelle, Luke Chappelle, Andrew Chappelle and William Chappelle. In keeping with Helen’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held from Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John 634-7424 on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at 2:00 pm. Following the service a reception will be held at Brenan’s Reception Centre. In Helen’s memory, in lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
