Obituary of Baden Powell Wyers

Baden Powell Wyers of Saint John, husband of Edith C. (Demeau) Wyers, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, December 12, 2010, surrounded by his loving family. Born at Campbellton on August 10, 1925, he was a son of the late Harvey and Marion (Farrar) Wyers. Baden worked as a scaler most of his working life, first at International Paper, and when he moved with his family to Saint John in 1964, he worked at Rothesay Paper, retiring in 1990. He was a Veteran of World War II, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 14, and a member of Saint John’s Lodge # 2, F. & A. M.. In his spare time, Baden enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and spent summers at the family homestead in Kedgwick River; but his greatest enjoyment in life was his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren, who were the apple of his eye. In addition to his wife of 58 years, Baden is survived by his children, Faith Searle (Lindsey) of Kedgwick River, Baden Wyers Jr. (Barb) of Hampton, Marion McNamee of Bayswater, and Sally Wyers (Raymond Riley) of Saint John; grandchildren Mark Searle (Diana), Lisa LeBlanc (Phil), Jillian Smith (Scott), Courtenay MacDonald, Morgan MacDonald, Colin MacDonald, Crystal Herrington (Barry), and Karen Somerville (Terry); eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Baden was predeceased by a brother, Allie Wyers. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Tuesday from 7-9 PM and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held from Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, December 16, 2010 at 12:00 Noon. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, remembrances to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the Atlantic Breast Cancer Foundation, or to any charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion will gather on Tuesday at 7 PM for a Tribute Service, and the members of Masonic Lodge will gather on Wednesday at 7 PM for a Tribute Service.
