Obituary of L. Betty Fulton

L. Betty Fulton, wife of the late Charles Judson Fulton, passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital on March 11, 2012. Born in Killyharn, Northern Ireland on June 27, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Elizabeth (Robinson) McKay. She is survived by a brother, David MacKay (Donna) of Kingston, sister Evelyn Jones of Petitcodiac, and several nieces and nephews. Betty and her family emigrated from Northern Ireland to New Jerusalem in 1928. After her marriage, she and her husband worked in several lumber camps in Southern New Brunswick where she was the camp cook. When Camp Gagetown was formed, they bought a dairy farm in Norton where she was a very involved partner. Betty was an active member of the Norton United Church and the UCW, being awarded a life membership pin in 2001. In addition to her husband and parents, Betty was pre-deceased by three brothers; Robert, James and Gordon, as well as four sisters; Elizabeth, Annie, Mary and Sarah. The family would like to thank Betty’s neighbours for their kindness and generosity, as well as the Extra Mural nurses, and the staff of the 5th floor at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. The Funeral Service will be held from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday at 12:00 noon. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, remembrances to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
