Obituary of Phillip Wayne Carleton

Phillip "Wayne" Carleton of Quispamsis, husband of Wendy J. (Haines) Carleton, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 21, 2011 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, with his family by his side. Born at Saint John on January 1, 1950, he was a son of the late Leonard and Hilda (Appleby) Carleton. Wayne was the Manager of Branch #69 of the Royal Canadian Legion. In his youth, Wayne was a recipient of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award, and was and continued to be an avid sports fan, who enjoyed rugby, golf, and hockey, being a huge fan of the Buffalo Sabres. Wayne also enjoyed his family, especially his granddaughter, Madilyn. In addition to his wife, Wayne is survived by his sons, Blake Carleton (Beth Ellis) of Barnesville, Drew Carleton (Lindsey) of Grand Bay-Westfield, and Adam Carleton of Barnesville; his granddaughter, Madilyn; his mother-in-law, Margaret Haines (Eldon "Buddy" Stilwell) of Saint John; a sister-in-law, Maria Braam (John) of Clifton Royal; a brother-in-law Michael Haines (Sandra) of Clifton Royal; nieces and nephews Gillian Carleton, Jeff Carleton, Nicholas Haines, Laura Haines, Sarah Braam, and Eric Braam; as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins. Wayne was predeceased by his twin brother, Glenn Carleton in 2008; and his father-in-law, James Haines. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Monday, October 24, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at 12:00 Noon from Brenan’s Paradise Row Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, remembrances to the Canadian Diabetes Association or any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. A Royal Canadian Legion Tribute Service will be held on Monday at 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
