Obituary of Vernon L. Sabean

Vernon Lawrence Sabean, husband of Betty (Limkilde) Sabean, passed away on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on March 11, 1928, he was a son of the late Saul Sabean and Hazel Mae (Hibbert) Sabean. Vern was a loving husband to Betty for 64 years, a wonderful supportive father to Tim and Pam. Vern was the owner and operator of Vern’s Bakery. "It is always fresh because we bake it right here". Vern lived his life working at his craft; this was his passion in life, creating wonderful tasty treats. Vern started his career at the Elgin House resort as a pastry chef. After many years of hard work and dedication, he turned his ambition into business ownership. Vern was an enthusiastic collector of antique cars, buying and restoring many over the years. Vernon is survived by his wife, Betty; his son, Tim Sabean (Doris) of Moncton, New Brunswick; his daughter Pam Godsoe (Doug) of Bronx, New York; grandchildren Gregg Sabean and Natalie Sabean of Moncton, Ryan Sabean of Halifax, Charlie Godsoe of Calgary, Victoria Godsoe of Fredericton and Allan Godsoe of New York; Great-grand children Nicholas, Hyden, Alexandria; a sister, Alberta of Saint John; and several nieces and nephews. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at 11:00 AM from the Church of St. John Baptist (Mission Church) and St. Clement . Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
