Obituary of Kalon Michael Burnett

With deep sorrow, the family of Kalon Burnett announces that on Saturday, May 11, 2013, Kalon unexpectedly and suddenly passed away due to a previously undiagnosed pancreas related condition while at home with his family. Besides his parents, Kalon is survived by his brother, Damien Burnett and niece Zoey, Damien’s daughter; and Zoey’s mother, Katelynn King, all of Saint John; his aunt, Alana (Burnett) Lynes and her children, Kalon’s cousins, Caitlin (Burnett) Monrreal, CJ Lynes and Kiara Lynes, all living in Texas but close in our hearts; and Kalon’s uncles, Jamie Burnett and his children and Dean Burnett and his son; and extended family members, Nancy Burnett; Joanne Fulton; Tracy Goldsmith; and several other in-laws, aunts, uncles and cousins. Kalon was predeceased by several family members including grandparents; most recently his grandfather, Kenneth Babcock; his great aunt, Marjorie Duffy and his uncle, David Babcock. Kalon was born on February 8, 1985 in Saint John to Linda (Babcock) and Shawn Burnett. He was a student at Prince Charles School and St. Malachy’s High School followed by working for several years at Key Industries. As Kalon’s family, we had to manage the challenges of dealing with his Autism, as he also struggled to deal with it and though it did restrict his life’s experiences, he did however, enrich our lives because of his often unique but wonderful qualities and we have been blessed to have these years with him. Kalon loved reading, writing and listening to music. He was an animal lover, especially sensitive to cats and took wonderful care of our cat, who miss him every day. Kalon also provided care and comfort to many of the stray cats in the neighbourhood. There will be no formal visitation however there will be Funeral Services to be held at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) on Monday, May 20, 2013 at 1 pm, and will be followed by a Reception. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances to a Living Memorial, NB Autism Society OR THE Animal Rescue League would be appreciated by the family. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Emergency Workers and Regional Hospital Staff, to the staff at Brenan’s for everything, and to all others who have been helping us through this tragic time.
