Obituary of John William Savoy

John William Savoy of Willow Grove, husband of the late Melvina (Chaisson) Savoy, passed away at home on September 27, 2012. Born in Chatham on August 4, 1932, he was a son of the late John William and Mary (Hebert) Savoy. A veteran of the Korean War, he served in the Armed Forces and Merchant Marine. Following the war, John worked as a cook for Kent Lines, and enjoyed hunting, and spending time with his family; they were his life. He is survived by his children Mildred (Blair) Cameron, Joseph (Marion) Savoy, John Jr. (Heather) Savoy, and Melvina (Willie) Snodgrass, thirteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, sister Kathleen (Lloyd) Owens, and step-brothers Billy and Eddie Savoy. In addition to his parents and wife, John was pre-deceased by a sister, Bertha Forsythe. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The Royal Canadian Legion will hold a "Tribute to a Veteran" Service on Sunday at 7:00 PM. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 10:00 AM from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
