Obituary of Muriel Eileen Taylor

Muriel Eileen Taylor of Saint John, wife of Robert D. Taylor, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 14, 2013 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on February 24, 1922, she was a daughter of the late George and Eileen (Miller) Fanjoy. Muriel worked from a young age at various things, but most of her early career was spent with New System Laundry and subsequently as a seamstress for Hoffman’s Department Store. She was blessed with an abundance of talent, both musically and artistically, playing several instruments by ear and being able to sketch and paint. Gifted with her hands, Muriel enjoyed needlepoint and sewing, and recently donated several quilts she had made to the Saint John Regional Hospital. She was always available to help her neighbours and friends, but her highest love was looking after her family, who were the greatest beneficiaries of her affection and her cooking, especially her homemade bread. In addition to her husband of 71 years, Muriel is survived by her children, David Taylor (Cora) of Fredericton, Nancy Lisson (Greg), John Taylor (Mary), and Dorothy Waddell (Arthur) all of Quispamsis, Donald Taylor (Lorna) of Saint John, and Joan Kinney (Carl) also of Saint John; grandchildren Robie Taylor, Andrea Fairweather, Angela Kosturik, Robert Lisson, Janice Keats, Gisele Taylor, David Waddell, Kristen Waddell, Cynthia Taylor, Stephanie Taylor, and Nancy MacGaghey; several great grandchildren; sisters Gladys Stoyanowski of Arborg, MB and Florence Campbell of Quispamsis; and several nieces and nephews. Muriel was predeceased by brothers Charles and John Fanjoy. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at 2:00 PM from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. For those who wish remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
