Obituary of Chelsea Beth Allaby

Peacefully, Chelsea Beth Allaby was welcomed into the gates of heaven, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, October 13, 2016 following a lifelong illness. Her final days were spent surrounded by the family and friends that Chelsea had touched in many small ways throughout her very memorable life. Chelsea’s life would seem too short to many but those who knew her understood that the quality of her existence far exceeded the quantity of time that she lived. Her infectious smile and outgoing personality melted the hearts of those around her. Although Chelsea’s illness sometimes made her appear frail, she possessed great strength, perseverance and an ability to overcome incredible odds and physical challenges. With her courage she led us to believe that each day is a blessing and an opportunity to create lasting memories. She enjoyed music, playing games, painting, watching DVD’s (Wiggles), talking on the phone, facetiming and loved the colour purple. She loved to travel and go on cruises with her family and enjoyed a Wish Trip on a Disney Cruise, which included a stop at Disney World. With Chelsea’s passing we remind others that her life is one to be celebrated. Although we will miss her everyday, especially her winning smile she will forever remain in our hearts. Through her teachings about life, we were able to create wonderful memories and it has been a privilege to be her parents and sister. Chelsea leaves behind many wonderful caregivers that provided love and support. From home support and Extra Mural staff, to all the wonderful nurses and staff of 4AS at the Saint John Regional Hospital: Dr. Paras, Dr. Gander, Dr. Meek, Radiation Department, Neurology, Orthopedics Department, IWK Halifax Oncology Department, Dr. Fernandez, Dr.Crooks and "Buddington". There is a special place in our hearts for Chelsea’s best friend, "Nurse Judy" and because of her unconditional dedication, love, support and care; Chelsea was able to endure some of her toughest medical challenges. So many special people, too numerous to mention, provided Chelsea and her family with love and dignity in her life and also in her death. Chelsea is survived by her proud and loving parents, Brent and Marlene Allaby of Pennifield; sister, Kyla Allaby of Halifax; maternal grandmother, Frances Hennigar of Fredericton; paternal grandmother, Beth Allaby of Nauwigewauk; paternal great-grandmother, Clara Wanamaker of Nauwigewauk; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. Chelsea was predeceased by her maternal great-grandmothers, Heloise Randall and Nancy Cameron; maternal great-grandfather, Raymond Cameron; paternal grandfather, James "Barry" Allaby and paternal great-grandfather, Harold Wanamaker. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Celebration of Chelsea’s Life will be held from Sea View Full Gospel Church, 195 Back Bay Loop, Back Bay on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at 2:00 PM. In memory of Chelsea, please feel free to wear the colour purple as it was her favourite. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the IWK, Charlotte County Cancer Society, Children’s Wish Foundation or the SJRH Pediatric Unit c/o the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation.
