Obituary of Linda Anne McGuire

Following a courageous battle with cancer, the family of Linda (McCurdy) McGuire, wife of Tony McGuire, sadly announce her passing on Monday, December 12, 2016 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on February 11, 1947, she was a daughter of the late Jim and Helen (Keating) McCurdy. Linda started her career as a teacher but left to be a mom to the three beautiful children she dedicated her life to and was so proud of. After raising her children she returned to work with Canadian Blood Services. She greatly enjoyed this work and her many lifelong friendships as was evident with the steady stream of visitors over the past month. Linda was generous in giving her love to all animals, her extended family, friends, children & her loving supportive best friend Tony. In addition to her loving husband of 48 years, Tony, Linda is survived by her children: Anthony Jr. "Roofy" (Patricia), Lesley "Lamby" McGuire, and Sean "Spanky" (Julie-Ann); grandchildren: Brooklyn, Zoe, Dustin, Miranda, Ethan, Catherine, William, and Alex; great-grandson, Mason; sisters: Sister MaryBeth McCurdy and Jane Arseneau (Billy); brother, David McCurdy; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff in the palliative care unit at the SJRH. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Thursday, December 15, 2016 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. A Funeral Liturgy will be held on Friday, December 16, 2016 at 11 am from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Rothesay. Interment will take place in St. Patrick’s Cemetery at a later date. Remembrances to the Kennebecasis Lions Club, Bill McGuire Memorial Scholarship Fund or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Please place online condolences and remembrances at www.brenansfh.com.
