Obituary of Mervin Norris Hebb

It is with great sadness that the family of Mervin Hebb of St. Martins, beloved husband of Donna Lee (Morrell) Hebb announces his passing, which occurred on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Bobby’s Hospice. Born on September 30, 1932 in Bridgewater, NS, he was the son of the late Everett and Nina (Newcombe) Hebb. Mervin was a graduate of Vocational Electronics and went on to become a loyal employee of CHSJ Television, where he worked as a Producer and Director for 37 years. He was a member of the National Association of Broadcast Employees and Technicians (NABET), Saint John Press Club, Canadian Association of Broadcasters - 25 year club and also enjoyed his time serving with the Champlain Heights Community Association. Mervin spent many hours volunteering with the New Brunswick Museum and was a former member of the Planning Review Adjustment Committee for Fundy District (PRAC). He also served as the EMO Emergency Measures Co-ordinator for St. Martins and enjoyed volunteering at the St. Martins Visitor Information Centre. In addition to his loving wife of 20 years, Donna Lee, Mervin is also survived by his children, Steven Hebb (Marilyn) and Janice McCurdy (Chris) all of Saint John, and Donna Lee’s children: Bradley Bennett (Margaret) and Janelle Arseneault (Scott) ) all of St. Martins; brother, Martin Hebb (Hazel) and sister-in-law, Lynn Hebb, both of Bridgewater, NS; precious grandchildren, Robin Hebb, Sabrina and Gillian Davidson, Hannah and Claire Arseneault; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his first wife of 37 years, Frances (Romkey) Hebb and brother, Milton Hebb. Mervin’s family would like to thank the staff and volunteers of Bobby’s Hospice for their amazing care during this trying time. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Tuesday, November 7 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Wednesday, November 8 at 12:00PM. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, remembrances made to Bobby’s Hospice, St. Martins United Church or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
