Obituary of Carol Anne Stuart

We are saddened to announce the death of Carol Anne Stuart (Orchard), wife of Dwight Stuart, which occurred on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, surrounded by her husband and family. Born in Young’s Cove, NB on September 27, 1945, she was a daughter of Kathleen and the late Ralph Orchard. Carol enjoyed spending time with her family and friends at the cottage on Deer Island, gardening, knitting and travelling. She worked for several years at the Telegraph Journal. Carol was a faithful member of her church, where she was an active member of the Ladies' Guild. She was married to her husband, Dwight for 47 years. She is survived by her children: Jennifer (Peter) Lavigne and Joel (Carla) Stuart; grandchildren: Zack Lavigne, Jake Stuart and Lucas Stuart; brother, Neil (Linda) Orchard; sisters: Irene (Carl) Thorne and Barb Ekstrom; brother-in-law, Dick Richardson; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins and members of her extended family. Besides her father, Carol was predeceased by her mother-in-law, Cora Fountain; sister-in-law, Charlene Richardson and brother-in-law Randy Ekstrom. A special Thank You to the Oncology Department SJRH, doctors, nurses and support staff of 5A South; Extramural nurses, Palliative Care staff, and all others who cared for Carol over the past two years. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) with visitation Sunday, November 20, 2016 from 2 – 7 pm. Funeral Service will take place on Monday, November 21, 2016 at 11:00 am from Christ The King Church, formerly Saint James Lakewood, 2000 Loch Lomond Road, Saint John, NB. The officiant will be Archdeacon Stuart Allan, assisted by the Rev. Canon Bruce McKenna. Interment will take place at Fernhill Cemetery. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, remembrances in Carol’s memory may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society, Myeloma Canada or a Charity of the Donor’s Choice.
