Obituary of Bertha Lena Holmes

With heavy hearts, the family of Bertha Lena (Miller) Holmes announce her passing on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born November 21, 1922 in Saint John, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Dupuis) Miller. Lena was employed with Robin’s Drug Store, Sears, and Holtzman’s Furniture. She loved to knit and crochet, and was an excellent cook and baker. Lena is survived by her son, C. Victor Holmes (Sandra); grandchildren: Clarence Victor Holmes, Jr. (Michele), Timothy John Holmes (Julie), George Holmes Jr., and Jonita Holmes; several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Clarence Wilbur Holmes; her son, George; and all of her brothers and sisters. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 2pm from the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 67 Magazine Street. Remembrances to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
