Obituary of Joshua Christopher Tobias

Tobias, Joshua Christopher – 1991 - 2017 It is with heavy hearts that the family of Joshua "Josh" Tobias announces his passing after a courageous battle with cancer, which occurred on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Bobby’s Hospice surrounded by his loving family. Josh was born in Saint John on April 2, 1991, he was the eldest son of Denise Tobias (Paul) and Stephen Tobias. He attended Simonds High School graduating in 2010. He also attended NBCC-SJ graduating as a Fuel Technician in 2013. Josh was a vibrant young man who loved anything that involved the outdoors. He enjoyed hiking, kayaking, and had recently taken up nature photography. He worked for the City of Saint John, Parks and Recreation department, as well as the Post Office and recently for Gateway plowing roads in the wintertime. Josh enjoyed spending time with friends and family and he will be dearly missed. In addition to his adoring parents, Josh will be missed by his brother Jacob; his maternal grandmother Rita Basque, cousins, Marc LeClair (Emily), Eric LeClair (Jessica) and little Remi and Martine Basque (Denis) and little Sophie, aunts and uncles Colette Doucet (Yvon), Mireille Basque (Barry), Caroline Basque (Emmanuel), Bernard Basque (Ginette) and Francois Basque (Sylvie); his beloved feline companion Whisker; as well as many extended family members, friends and all those whose lives he touched. He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Fabien Basque; paternal grandmother, Doreen Tobias; and his cousin Mathieu LeClair. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of the Regional Hospital Oncology Department 5A South and the staff of Bobby’s Hospice Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) with visitation to be held on Wednesday and Thursday, March 8th and 9th from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Ann’s Church, 135 Simpson Drive on Friday, March 10, 2017 at 12:00 pm. Interment will take place at St. Paul’s Cemetery, Upper Golden Grove at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances made to Bobby’s Hospice or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
