Obituary of Avis Dorothy Yeomans

We are blessed to call her Mom, but sad to share that on Saturday April 8th, after a lengthy period of failing health, she left us and her earthly home at Rocmaura Nursing Home, to be with her Lord and Savior. Avis, the eldest child of Murray and Betty (Hodgen) MacLaren, was born on February 28th 1930 in Caribou Maine. Although she spent her younger years in St Andrews, a family move to Saint John NB soon made it her home. Avis worked during her younger years but once the children arrived her family became her passion. Her love for her children and siblings was unconditional. The young family moved to Westfield in 1960 and embraced the village. It was a wonderful place to raise a family. As her children grew she worked with the family rental business. Avis was a faithful member of Fundamental Baptist Church and so loved her Church family. She enjoyed the Seniors group and all the many excursions they shared together. Avis loved to garden and the seasonal show of beautiful blooms in her yard was testament to that. She loved to entertain and did so frequently. Her home was always filled with the wonderful aromas of something delicious coming from the oven. Everyone was welcome at her table and those so fortunate, never left hungry. She loved music and was blessed with a beautiful singing voice and shared her gift with many. Avis is survived by her daughter Cynthia (Brian) Dockrill, her son Stephen (Teresa) and daughter in law Patricia (Larry) Yeomans Munn; 8 grandchildren: David, Kristin, Ashlee, Mathew, Jason, Jillian, Melissa, Andrew & 11 great grandchildren: sisters Francis Smith & Lois Goodine as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by the father of her children, Robert Yeomans; son Michael, brothers Bobby, Jimmy & Gerald MacLaren. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) where visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 12 from 2-4 and 6-8. The funeral service will be held at Fundamental Baptist Church, 1170 Sand Cove Road on Thursday, April 13th at 2pm. The service will be live streamed from www.fundamentalBaptistchurch.org. Interment will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery at a later date. Memorial gifts may be made to Romaura Foundation or Alzheimer Society Of New Brunswick.
