Obituary of Edith Anne Wrench

Nancy Williamson and Marie Thorburn are saddened to advise of the death of Edie Wrench at the Saint John Regional Hospital in her 92nd year. Edie was Nancy’s oldest and only remaining sister, and Marie’s very best friend. Edie was well known in golfing circles in Saint John. She was President of the Ladies at Riverside Golf & Country Club, followed by President of the New Brunswick Ladies Golf Association, and later a member of Westfield Golf & Country Club. She was Secretary of PROBUS and enjoyed all the activities that PROBUS offered. We are told she had a great sense of humour. Edie worked with General Electric in Saint John, Halifax, Toronto and Calgary. She gained another whole circle of friends in each city. Edie and Marie retired from General Electric at the same time and decided to move to Saint John where Edie’s family lived. They drove from Calgary with their dogs through all kinds of weather, bought a house in Gondola Point and continued to enjoy life and their wonderful neighbours. Edie was a great and valued volunteer at Loch Lomond Villa and the food bank, and was a Warden of her church up to her 91st year. When Edie moved to Saint John she was Nancy’s sister. It did not take long before Nancy became Edie’s sister. She had many friends throughout the province who will be sorry to learn of her passing. In addition to Marie, and her sister Nancy Williamson (Byron), Edie will be missed by David and Darlene Cunningham and their family; her late sister Jean’s family in Sault. St. Marie; her cat Pepper; and her many friends. In addition to her parents, John and Mabel (Olten) Wrench, Edie was predeceased by two sisters, Jean Nisbet and Betty Wrench (who passed away last October); and a brother, John Wrench. We would like to thank all the staff and patients of 4ANorth at the Saint John Regional Hospital for their care. Especially Raymond, who made it his mission to look after Edie from the time she went into Transitions to her passing. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) with visitation on Monday, November 13, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 12:00 pm from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place at Fernhill Cemetery in the spring. Remembrances made to Bobby’s Hospice or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
