Obituary of Dorothy Cleveland Trunck

It is with heavy heart that we announce the death of Dorothy Cleveland Trunck, who passed away Saturday June 25, 2016, at Rocmaura Nursing Home in Saint John. Born on July 1, 1923, Dorothy was just shy of her 93rd birthday. Dorothy died peacefully and had suffered from Alzheimer’s for several years. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, Donald Charles Keddy and Reta Kathleen Keddy (ne Cleveland), her first husband Wilfred L. Anderson, her second husband Edwin J. (Dutch) Trunck; her son William (Bill) Anderson; and her brother Dr. Bruce Keddy. Dorothy is survived by her son Donald George Anderson, Nova Scotia; stepson James P. Trunck , Florida; granddaughter Jodie Anderson, Ottawa; great grandson Jeremy James, Ottawa; sister Barbara Clouston, Montreal; brother Dr. David Keddy, Nova Scotia; friend Willard (Bill) Turner, Saint John; and several nieces and nephews. Dorothy was born in Halifax and grew up in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. She graduated from Acadia with her B. A. in 1943. She lived for many years in Granby, Quebec where her husband Wilf taught at Bishop’s University. During that time, Dorothy became a Librarian and helped set up libraries in Granby area. Following Wilf’s death, Dorothy met and married Dutch and they lived in Freeport, Illinois until his death. Dorothy then lived in Naples, Florida for a number of years before returning to Canada to live in Rothesay. In 2001, she moved to the Chateau de Champlain retirement home where she met her good friend Bill. Dorothy loved to travel, read and being with family and friends. We would like to thank Dorothy’s care giver and good friend Hazel Jacquart for her devotion and care to Dorothy. We would like to thank the staff of Rocmaura Nursing Home and of the Church of St. John and St. Stephen Home for their care of Dorothy. There will be no service by request. We would ask that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Saint John or the Rocmaura Foundation. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). There will be no visitation or funeral service. Interment will take place at Pinewood Cemetery, Granby, PQ at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Saint John or the Rocmaura Foundation.
