Obituary of John F. McCrossin

Jack McCrossin, husband of 59 years to Roberta (Calder), passed away on September 6, 2016 at Shannex Milledgeville. Born in Saint John on February 10, 1928 he was a son of the late William and Marie McCrossin. Jack graduated from St. Vincent’s High School in 1945 and furthered his education by obtaining his Chartered Accountant designation. He was a well-respected accountant and Partner with Deloitte. He loved his job and often thought of his clients as family. Jack cherished spending time with family and friends. Also enjoyed golfing, gardening, swimming and trips to Campobello and Florida. He was a long-time member of Riverside County Club and the Union Club. Jack was a devout Catholic, volunteering in several capacities for over forty years at St. Rose Parish. Jack had dedicated countless hours to his community and was a founding member of the Saint John Foundation, served on the board of the Saint John Transit Commission and numerous other committees. After an accidental fall six years ago, Jack was cared for at home for five years by his loving wife and wonderful caregivers. After being hospitalized in December 2015 he spent his remaining time at Ridgewood Veterans wing and Shannex Milledgeville. Family would like to thank the staff at both these locations for their kind and compassionate care. Special thanks to Dr. Sean Keyes, a long-time friend, Dr. Pamela Jarrett, Dr. Neil Young, and staff of Extra Mural. Besides his wife Roberta, Jack is survived by two sons Robert McCrossin and Kevin McCrossin (Barb); one daughter Linda Martin (Jeff); five grandchildren Benjamin, Calder, Jack, Colin and Lauren; siblings Nancy Shea (Jim) of Montreal, brothers William McCrossin (Carol) of Winnipeg and James McCrossin of One Hundred Mile House; as well as several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by siblings, Robert "Bob" McCrossin (Shirley) and Lillian Schofield (Steve). Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visitation on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 from 7 to 9 pm and Thursday, September 8, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima, 541 Milford Road, Saint John on Friday, September 9, 2016 at 12:00 pm. Remembrances may be made to Romero House, Cathedral Restoration Fund or any charity of the donor’s choice.
