Obituary of Betty Ann Cameron

It is with great sadness that we announce Betty Ann Cameron (McEwen), of Hampton, New Brunswick, passed away June 19, 2016 at home at the age of 70. Born January 14, 1946 in Saint John, NB, she was the daughter of Dorothy and the late Erskine McEwen. Betty is survived by her mother Dorothy and her husband of 51 years, Freeman Edward Cameron. She is also lovingly remembered by her children, Sherry Foster (Cameron) and husband Steve, Freeman Cameron ("Little Freeman"; predeceased), Mary Ann Cameron, Sandra Cameron (Billy O’Hearon). Betty’s absolute pride and joy were her children as well as her grand and great grandchildren. She is survived by three grandchildren including Ryan McCoy (Halee), Ashley Swan (Matthew) and Rebecca Foster. She is also survived by two great grandchildren Cameron and Anderson Swan. Betty is also survived by four sisters, Debbie Caissie (Donald), Wanda Sabean (Gary), Nancy Hubley (Earl), Shelly McEwen (Andrew) and predeceased by her sisters Joan Greenslade and Marion McEwen. Also fondly remembering Betty are her best friends, Doreen Blair (Tootsie) and Patsy Thompson, her special aunt Jane Ash (Bunny), friends that became family, Rod and Tammie Fournier and family, and far too many close friends, nieces and nephews to mention. Betty was devoted to her homecare clients. For many years, Betty worked for Joan’s Homecare, alongside her sweet and generous boss, Joan Mitchell. Betty loved to travel, to cook and to cater to the people she loved, which included many. She had an amazing memory, was a good listener and was a confident story teller. Her sharp wit and dry, sarcastic sense of humour kept people laughing and kept them on their toes. The family would like to thank Dr. Chris O’Brien (Betty’s beloved "Superman"); the staff of Palliative Care at the Saint John Regional Hospital; her sisters for all the loving care they gave her; the KV Extramural nurses; and Bill Koval, the KV Extramural Respiratory Therapist. Betty is resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424), where visitation will be held on Friday, June 24, 2016 from 2-8 PM. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on June 25 at 10:00 AM, with the interment to follow at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery, 1650 Manawagonish Rd. For those who wish, remembrances in memory of Betty may be made to Bobby’s Hospice, the IWK Children’s Hospital or to any local food bank.
