Obituary of Herbert Lee Arbou

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Herbert "Herb" Arbou, beloved husband of 72 years to the late Marion (Snow) Arbou announces his passing, which occurred on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at Ridgewood Veterans Wing. Born on April 8, 1920 in Upper Blackville, he was the son of the late Robert and May (Arbeau) Arbeau. Prior to his retirement, Herb was employed as a Stationary Engineer with the City of Saint John. He loved all music and was a skilled musician. Herb received great joy from entertaining and will be missed by all who knew him. He always took great comfort in his faith and was an active member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church for many years. In his younger years, Herb enjoyed playing volleyball and swimming. Herb is survived by his children, Faye Arbou of Saint John, Gordon Arbou (Jana Logue-Arbou) of Port Williams, NS and Arlene Shannon (Kevin) of Rothesay; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Arbeau of Saint John; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents, he was also predeceased by his son, Ronald Arbeau and siblings, Joseph, Calvin, Philip and Vera. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Thursday, October 13, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. The funeral service will be held from the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 506 Woodward Avenue, Saint John on Friday, October 14, 2016 at 1:00 PM. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
