Obituary of Mary Margaret Alliston

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Mary Margaret Alliston, loving wife of the late Percy Francis Alliston Sr., announces her peaceful passing which occurred on Monday, July 10, 2017 at Rocmaura Nursing Home. Born on August 2, 1929, she was a daughter to the late Ernest and Margaret Doucette. Mary was a devoted Catholic. Once an active member of Holy Trinity Parish, Mary attended Mass every Sunday and could always be found lending a hand or just attending church functions. In being a devout Catholic, Mary had a fondness for the Pope. She was a lover of cats, country music and old western films, particularly ones starring John Wayne. Above all, she enjoyed the time she spent with her family, who will miss her dearly. Mary will be lovingly remembered by her surviving family, her two daughters Margaret Alliston and Beth Alliston (O’Neill), her son Percy (Ann) Alliston, 9 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and members of her extended family. Besides her parents, and husband Percy, Mary was predeceased by her sisters: Kathleen Harrison, Shirley Lowe, Rose Masten and Lena Sheehan, and her brothers: Eddy, Billy and Beverley Doucette. Mary’s family would like to extend a special "Thanks" to the nursing staff on Garden Court of Rocmaura Nursing Home for the care they provided. A special appreciation to Brenda Wilson, one of God’s angels here on earth. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) where visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 12 and Thursay, July 13 from 2-4 and 6-8. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, July 14 at 12:00 PM from Holy Trinity Parish, 21 Canon Street. Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer Society, SPCA- Animal Rescue or the Kidney Foundation.
