Obituary of Alfreda Marie Rogers

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Freda Rogers, wife of the late Robert Rogers, announce her passing which occurred on December 13, 2016 at Rocmaura Nursing Home. Born on December 15, 1929, Freda was a daughter to the late Joseph and Emma (Daigle) Kelly. Freda was a long-time member of the Holy Trinity Parish; during her time there she was a member of the CWL. She was also a past member of the Rocmaura Auxillary, St. Joseph’s Auxillary, the National Association of Federal Retirees and was active in various seniors groups. Freda’s love of cooking extended well beyond her career as a Pastry Chef at Graham’s Restaurant, she always made sure her family and visitors were well fed. Freda had a social grace about her; she loved family gatherings, and had an energy that drew others to get up and dance along with her. Her love of music and her humour were infectious; she loved to laugh and found great pleasure in making others laugh. She was an absolute joy to be around and she will be missed by all those who knew her. Freda will be lovingly remembered by her surviving family, her children: Jim (Iona) Kelly, Edward (Marilyn) Kelly and Shirley (Joël) Ouellet, grandchildren:, Jim Kelly, Stacey Brown, Jonathan Kelly, Angela Beaudet, Michael Ouellet and Jacqueline Ouellet, great grandchildren: Jeremy, Arron and Sofia, Grace and Emma, Cyris and Jesse, along with several nieces, nephews and members of her extended family. Besides her parents and husband Robert, Freda was predeceased by siblings: Walter, Jim, Melvin, Herb, Mabel, Sadie, Mera, Anita and Hattie. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) where visitation will be held on Thursday, December 15 from 3-7. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Holy Trinity Church, 21 Canon Street on Friday, December 16 at 12 PM. Interment will immediately follow at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Rocmaura Foundation or to a charity of donor’s choice.
