Obituary of Irene Phyllis Bastarache

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Irene P. Bastarache , wife of the late Gerald Bastarache announce her peaceful passing, which occurred on Friday, December 8, 2017 at the Loch Lomond Villa. Born on July 9, 1926 in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Inez (Dobson) Tubb. Irene is survived by her six sons, Gerald, Bruce, Lawrence, Ivan (Patty), Philip and Hartley; six daughters, Christina McIntyre, Jeanet Hachey, Ina Flooks, Verna Gray, Valerie Smith and Rachel Clark (Donald); 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by two infants and son, John; siblings, Viola and Lawrence Tubb; great-grandson, Wayne Saunders; son-in-law, George Gray and special friend, Garnet Wood. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Monday, December 11, 2017 from 6-8 PM and Tuesday, December 12, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. Irene’s family would like to thank the staff of Loch Lomond Villa Birch House for their patience and care that was provided to their mother. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Children’s Wish Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
