The death of Levite Paradis of Saint John, beloved husband of the late Marie Edmay (Michaud) Paradis, occurred on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Ridgewood Veterans Wing. Born in Grand Falls, he was the son of the late Archille and Aurore (Michaud) Paradis. Levite was a decorated veteran who served during WWII and the Korean War in a career that spanned 26 years. After retirement from the Armed Forces he became a trades teacher. He also devoted most of his life to assisting veterans. Levite served as both President of the Grand Falls Legion and NB Command. After his time spent as President with NB Command, he moved into the role of Provincial Service Officer assisting veterans and their dependants. After retirement he concentrated his time on working on the opening and operation of the Last Post Fund office in Saint John, NB serving New Brunswick and PEI. This continued until he was well into his eighties. Levite loved curling, particularly enjoyed golfing (a regular at the Hampton Golf Club) and never forgot his "hole in one". Most of all he treasured the times spent with those he loved and especially looked forward to various activities and visits with his adored grandchildren. He will be greatly missed. Levite is survived by his children, Robert Paradis (Monique) of Merrickville, ON, Susan Shephard of Grand Falls and Sandi Beckwith (Jeff) of Quispamsis; sisters, Ella Cormier of TX and Elizabeth "Betty" Hansel (John) of NV; six grandchildren, Melanie (Jay), Randi (Matt), Amanda (Greg), Kylie (James), Emilie and Samantha (Bailey); great-granddaughter, Paisley; dear friend and golfing buddy, Jeff Scoville as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also predeceased by infant daughter Gail and several brothers and sisters. In keeping with Levite’s wishes, no visitation or funeral service will take place. A graveside service will be held at a later date in Grand Falls. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer Society of NB or to Ridgewood Veterans Wing Comfort Fund.
