Obituary of Edith Reloy McCann

Edith "Loy" McCann nee Jost, wife of the late Robert "Bob" McCann, passed quietly on July 25, 2016 surrounded by her family after an epic battle with MS. She showed her fighting soul until her last day. Loy’s incredible spirit included a never ending sense of humour. Loy was born on March 14, 1929 to the late Archibauld and Hazel (Gray) Jost. Loy was predeceased by the love of her life Robert (Bob), her parents, brother Roland Jost and sister Joanna Downey. She is survived by her two children, Joanna (Bruce) Bland of Saint John, and Colin (Virginia "Ginny") McCann, of Mississauga, ON; brother Norman (Beth) Jost of Cambridge Narrows, NB; sister Eleanor "Ellie" (Charles) Daley of Peterborough, ON; four grandsons, Colin, Derek, Rob and Sean; great granddaughter Alexandra; and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express sincere thanks and gratitude to the staff of Terrace Court at Rocmaura Nursing Home and 5CN at Saint John Regional Hospital for their wonderful, tender care. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) with visitation on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at 2:00 PM with an interment to take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances in memory of Loy may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada or a charity of the donor’s choice.
