Obituary of Ralph Eldon Whittaker

Whittaker, Ralph Eldon – It is with heavy hearts that the family of Ralph Whittaker, beloved husband of Diann A. (Reid) Whittaker, announces his passing, which occurred on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, NB on December 11, 1945, he was a son of the late Noble Alexander and Georgia Gladys (Smith) Whittaker. Ralph was a devoted family man who loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was most comfortable being in the great outdoors. He enjoyed working in the woods, fishing and hunting, as well as using his talents to build things out of wood. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. In addition to Diann Whittaker, his loving wife of 48 years, Ralph will be missed by his children, Paul Whittaker, Mark Whittaker (Penny Schotanus) and Karen Hatfield (Gregg); cherished grandchildren, Mark, Jean-Luc, Chloe, Whitly, Sara, Jodie and Elaina; precious great grandchildren, Averia and Carson; his siblings, Audrey, Zelma, Linda (Alan), Beatrice (Pat), Wayne (Donna), James Howard and Gilbert (Ruth); as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Noble and Georgia Whittaker; as well as three siblings, Norman, Elsie and Earl. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). The family is organizing a celebration of Ralph’s life to be held on Sunday, October 16, 2016 at 1100 Brittain Road, Lower Greenwich. Feel free to stop by and visit with the family any time after noon. For those who wish, remembrances in Ralph’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick.
