Obituary of William Joseph Farren

Surrounded by the love of his family, William "Joe" Farren passed away on October 27, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Saint John, NB on January 14, 1942, he was a son of the late Frederick and Rose (Terris) Farren. Joe was an avid reader and a very gifted man who constructed and piloted his own Lazair Ultra Light Aircraft. There was nothing he could not build, fix, or design – a real "jack of all trades". After graduating from St. Malachy’s High School (1960) and St. Francis Xavier University (1964), Joe briefly taught school before establishing his career at NB Tel until his retirement in 1985. Joe will be missed by his children: Sean Farren (Kathy) of Ontario, David Farren (Tricia), Paul Farren (Cindy), and Heather Spear (Geoff) all of Saint John; mother of his children, Carole Farren; brother, Frederick Farren (Janet) of Campbell River BC; sister Ellenor Muska (James) of Connecticut; grandchildren: Matthew, Ryan and Christopher Spear, Jessica Farren and Ryan Hughes; nephews: Luke and Daniel Patterson and Chris and Scott Muska; niece Christine Ashcroft; and brother-in-law, Paul Patterson (Debbie) as well as his special feline companion Puss-Puss. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Extra Mural Nurses and the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at the Saint John Regional Hospital for their exceptional care in Joe’s final days. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) with visitation on Monday, October 30, 2017 at 2-4 and 6-8 PM. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Tuesday, October 31, 2017, at 12:00 PM. For those who wish, remembrances in memory of Joe may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.
