Obituary of Nicholas John Lignos

It is with great sadness that the family of Nicholas "Nick" Lignos of Saint John, cherished husband of Carol Blizzard announces his passing, which occurred on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on March 19, 1960 in Saint John, he was the son of the late Elefterious and Marie (Nairn) Lignos. Nick always put his family first and treasured the times spent with those he loved. He especially adored his grandchildren who were his world. Nick always looked forward to family gatherings and will be remembered as a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many. Nick was a loyal Toronto Maple Leafs fan, who in his younger years took great pride in coaching hockey. He will also be remembered for his "jokester" ways, his love of motorcycles, fishing and music. In addition to his wife, Carol, Nick is also survived by their children, Nicole Lignos (Tyler) and Leo Lignos (Amy) all of Quispamsis and Nick Lignos (Megan) of Saint John; siblings, Renna Morris (Billy), Mike Lignos (Joan) and Kelty Brown all of Saint John; precious grandchildren, Kalie and Ellias; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his sister, Matrona "Toni" Lignos and brothers, Leo and George Lignos. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Monday, May 2, 2016 and Tuesday, May 3, 2016 from 2:00 - 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 91 Waterloo Street, Saint John on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at 12:10 PM. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to The Joshua Group, Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Kidney Foundation.
