Obituary of Mary Cynthia Keddy

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our mother, Cynthia Keddy, on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born June 3, 1944 in Saint John, she was a daughter of the late Percival and Hortense (Maher) Streeter. Cynthia was very well known and active in the communities where she lived a vibrant life raising her family. Her house was always a center of entertainment and a welcoming place to all. Her outgoing and generous personality made her a key part of everything she participated in. Her naturally kind and admirable qualities will leave a lasting legacy in countless lives. Cynthia volunteered with Meals On Wheels, was a catechism teacher, delivered communion to shut-ins, was involved in the OLPH New Church Committee, and was a long time member of her local church choir. She was involved in many competitive sports and clubs including the Annapolis Valley Hunt Club, Rothesay Pony Club, Rothesay Tennis Club, Riverside Golf Club, Rothesay Yacht Club, and was involved in competitive horse jumping throughout the Maritimes for many years. Cynthia is survived by her sons: Patrick (Tina), Michael, and Timothy (Kim); daughter, Jane; sister, Anne Kingsley; brothers: James Streeter, Richard Streeter (Nancy), and David Streeter (Lynda); grandchildren: Bryanna, Ivy and Chloe, Piper, Silas, and Jasper; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Joseph, and former husband Donald Keddy. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), where the family will receive visitors on Monday, June 12, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at 12 pm at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 31 Gondola Point Road, Rothesay. Interment will take place at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cemetery. Remembrances to the Arthritis Society or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
