Obituary of Dante Foriere

Dante Foriere, husband of Maria (Cerrone) Foriere, passed away on Sunday, August 13 at Saint John Regional Hospital. Dante was born February 18, 1936 In Lanciano, Italy. He was the son of the late Americo and Lucia (Brettone) Foriere. Dante immigrated from Italy to Canada when he was 19 years old. He came here not knowing anyone, alone and only speaking Italian. He worked on the railroads and at the Chico Mines in Ontario. Coming from Italy, he was not accustomed to the cold Ontario winters and boarded a train in search of what he was told was warmer weather in Vancouver. Seven days later because of his limited English he exited the train in Halifax Nova Scotia. There he worked eight years for Maritime Masonry. In 1957 he returned to Italy to marry Maria Cerrone and quickly returned to Halifax where he started his family and began building homes. He moved the family to Saint John New Brunswick in 1971. Dante was a skilled bricklayer and was extremely knowledgeable in the field of construction. He continued building homes and went on to become a successful general contractor operating Sunrise Construction for many years. Besides his loving wife Dante is survived by his two sons: Americo (Janice) of Jupiter, Florida, Roberto (Greta) of Royal Palm Beach, Florida, four grandchildren; Kayla, Deanna, Gino, Dante, his brother in law Benito Cerrone and sister in law Antoinette Cerrone of Rothesay, New Brunswick.
