Obituary of Maxine Howard

It is with broken hearts but many wonderful memories that the family of Maxine Howard (nee LeGrow) announce her unexpected passing on July 12, 2016 at the Saint John Regional Hospital ICU after a heroic fight. Maxine was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, on April 12, 1952, daughter to the late Wesley and Olive (Mouland) LeGrow. After graduating from nursing school in 1974, she went on to provide 40 years of nursing care to others with the majority spent as a psychiatric nurse on 4DN at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Maxine lived passionately and selflessly for her children and they will miss her dearly and deeply every day. She leaves to mourn her three children; Kira Howard, Sean Scott Howard, and Steven Howard, and the light of her life, her grandson Landon, all of Saint John; three sisters; Joyce (Roderick) MacKay of Ottawa, Ontario; Beverly (Wolfgang) Wolf of Comox, British Columbia; Catherine (Darald) Haley of Barrie, Ontario; one brother, Lloyd (Margaret) LeGrow of Edmonton, Alberta; Aunt Laura and Uncle Bert Butler of Bauline, Newfoundland; nieces, nephews, and many cousins. She will also be greatly missed by a large circle of extended family and her cherished, long-time friends. In honouring Maxine’s wishes there will be no funeral service or burial. Her children will hold a Celebration of Life on August 7, 2016. Donations in Maxine’s memory can be made to the Saint John SPCA or the New Brunswick Lung Association. She would also appreciate that we value the importance of being an organ donor. "But, as it is written, "What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him." - Corinthians 2:9 "I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith." - 2 Timothy 4:7 She's in the sun, the wind, the rain; she's in the air you breathe with every breath you take. She sings a song of hope and cheer, there's no more pain, no more fear. You'll see her in the clouds above; hear her whisper words of love. You'll be together before long, until then listen for her song. - Christy Ann Martine Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). www.brenansfh.com
