Obituary of Archie Wesley Rickard

The passing of Archie Wesley Rickard, husband of the late Marjorie Alice (Knight) Rickard, occurred on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at his residence in Ridgewood Veterans Wing, surrounded by his family. Born in Hartland on April 20, 1922, he was a son of the late George and Lottie (Lawrence) Rickard. Archie served overseas in World War II with the third division R.C.C.S., and was a Life Member of Portland Branch # 64 R.C.L. He also received recognition as French Knight of the National Order of Legion of Honour. Archie will be missed dearly by his sons: Michael (Gail) Rickard and Peter (Sylvia) Rickard; 6 grandchildren: Bethany Wood (Dale), Robyn Dean (Joel), Randy Rickard (Patricia), Troy Rickard (Nancy), Dylan Rickard (Vicki), Anna Rickard (Matt Koss); 10 great-grandchildren: Laurana and Kristen Wood, Ariel and Addison Rickard, Spencer and Natasha Dean, Liam, Asher and Nolan Koss, Jake Rickard; brothers: Clinton (Willa) Rickard and Willis Rickard. Besides his wife and parents Archie is predeceased by his 4 sisters and 3 brothers. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenans Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with a Legion Service on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at 10:30 AM. Visitation will follow Legion Service from 11:00 AM until service time. A Memorial Service will follow at 12 Noon from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Donations in Archie’s memory may be made to Ridgewood Veterans Wing, Heart and Stroke Foundation or a Charity of Donor’s Choice.
